“…Only one polymeric complex with a thiosemicarbazone, namely, [Zn(L)(OAc)] n 445 [322] is known. In this complex, the ligand is tridentate coordinating via, N 4 , N 3 , S-donor atoms, and the geometry is square pyramidal with three donor atoms of thiosemicarbazone, and one oxygen atom of acetate anion in the plane, whereas the axial position is occupied by the second acetate oxygen atom.…”

“…We have reported that two 5-coordinate zinc(II) complexes with 2-acethylpyridine thiosemicarbazone, i.e., polymeric catena-poly [Zn(mtsc)-l-(OAc-O,O 0 )] n and monomeric [Zn(Hmtsc)(NO 3 ) 2 ], do not inhibit the growth of selected bacteria, yeasts and molds [16]. We have also recently reported crystal and molecular structures of 12 zinc(II) complexes with four thiosemicarbazones and two semicarbazones, and found that the zinc(II) complexes which can form intermolecular hydrogen bonding with a counter anion or hydrated water molecules show modest to effective antimicrobial activities [16].…”

“…We have recently reported the relationship between the structure and antimicrobial activity in the transitionmetal (zinc(II) and nickel(II)) complexes with multidentate thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone ligands [16][17][18][19]. We have presented that the nickel(II) complexes with thiosemicarbazone and semicarbazone ligands (L1-L3) show selective and effective activities against two Gram-positive bacteria (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus), only when they take a labile 4-coordinate structure consisting of one tridentate ligand and one replaceable monodentate ligand such as OAc À and Cl À [18].…”

“…In recent years, zinc complexes of different N-and O-donor ligands have been studied due to their application as models for Zncontaining active sites in enzymes [4]. Depending on the method of preparation i.e., reaction condition, nature of solvent, stoichiometry and temperature, the resulting zinc complexes can have five-and six-coordinate structures [5,6].To investigate the influence of different coordination mode on the molecular geometry in the absence of ligand field stabilisation energy, and also the packing characteristics of corresponding complexes, the present work was undertaken. The synthesis, crystal structure and solid state thermal studies of two novel conformational isomers of [Zn(medpt)(NCS) 2 ], medpt=N 2 -methyldiethylenetriamine, are reported here.…”
