“…Similar values were found in previous studies in which glycerol was not used, 8 in keeping with those obtained in the anaerobic digestion of organic waste 38 and the codigestion of mixtures of slaughterhouse waste with MSW 39 and vegetable market waste with MSW. 40 Decomposition of SCOD was in the 65− 73% range. These results are in line with those obtained by Ueno 41 (79%) in two-phase thermophilic AD of organic waste for an HRT between 4.3 and 6.8 d (OLR between 12.4 and 16.6 g SCOD/L/d).…”

“…This result indicates that AD was carried out under the synergistic action of microorganisms and various organic ingredients in the substrates, namely, the BMP results are simultaneously affected to varying degrees by all organic constituents of the substrate rather than being affected by only one component. Considering the R 2 and p values, the model with the combination of two explanatory variables of CP and Lig showed the best performance (R 2 = 0.976 and p = 0.048) among the two-variable models, namely, CP and Lig explained 97.6% of variation in G 0 . Similarly, in all the three-variable regression models, the highest R 2 value (0.999) was obtained when TF, Hem, and Lig were used in combination.…”

“…In recent years, attributable to the vigorous implementation of the "vegetable basket project" by local governments at various levels, the vegetable industry has developed rapidly and prosperously in China [1]. Vegetable crop residues (VCRs), including stalks, leaves, vines, and roots of plants, refer to the parts of the vegetable crop that remain after obtaining the main agricultural products [2,3]. In 2016, the total output of VCR in China was approximately 40 million tons that were mainly generated during the harvest of vegetable fruits and the renovation of greenhouses [4][5][6].…”

“…8 Finally, methanogens produce CO 2 , methane, and ATP from acetic acid, CO 2 , and H 2 through methanogenesis along with many important coenzymes, such as methanofuran, methanopterin, and coenzyme M. 8 In the past 20 years, more and more countries have focused on the industrial applications of the AD technique and constructed hundreds of AD treatment facilities to degrade organic matter, such as municipal, agricultural, and industrial wastes. 9 Meanwhile, many studies related to methane production from different substrates, 10,11 methane production enhancement, 12,13 and reactor design 14,15 in AD have made great progress. The rapid development of AD technology has facilitated the utilization of renewable resources and promoted the optimization of energy structures.…”
