“…45 This evidence supports a population-based targeted OC screening program in these high-prevalence countries, with 3 years being an established maximum time gap between 2 tests to ensure the protective effect of screening. 46 As adherence is critical to successful repeated screenings, adherence-enhancing interventions, such as routinely mailed invitations, 47 should be explored. To further increase screening uptake and adherence, novel examination methods, including telescreening, may represent cost-effective and sensitive alternatives to clinician-conducted examinations, especially in more resource-restrained settings, although the limitations of this approach (eg, poor image quality) need to be thoroughly examined.…”

“…Focus group participants shared their views on the minimum requirements for informing and engaging the target population in a personalised CRC screening programme. The organisational structure may already be optimal: sending a pre-invitation letter, then mailing an invitation including a test kit and a reminder letter if necessary ( Tinmouth et al, 2022 , Toes-Zoutendijk et al, 2020 ). Despite the success of the media campaign when CRC screening started in 2014, focus group participants indicated that there is no general awareness of the CRC screening programme at present and a hardcopy letter is insufficient.…”
