In agreement with the conclusions of Enyeart et al, we proposed that the membrane depolarization induced by ACTH would be a sufficient condition to activate voltage-dependent Ca 2ϩ channels identified in this cell type (13), even though this depolarization failed to trigger action potentials in control solution.
