Abstract:Venovenous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (VV-ECMO) is an adjuvant treatment for severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) with refractory hypoxemia. Contraindications to therapeutic anticoagulation must be ruled out prior to ECMO implementation.
