“…von Möllendorff, who did not describe or taxonomically treat this specimen any further. Later, Haas (1934), recognising that there were some differences in shell characters to A. buelowi, described this particular specimen (now deposited in SMF) as a new species, A. asper. Thach (2016) also described a similar species, A. franzhuberi from the border of Nha Trang, Vietnam, which is described to differ from A. buelowi in having a broader shell shape, more swollen body whorls, a less excavated base, a more inflated spire, a rounded anterior end of the outer lip, and monomorphic dextrality (just from four type series).…”

“…Transitory pygidia are known from several Leonaspis and Kettneraspis species (e.g., Chatterton, 1971;Ramsköld & Chatterton, 1991;Chatterton & Speyer, 1997;Chatterton et al, 2006;Basse & Müller, 2016;Alberti, 2021Alberti, , 2023Basse, 2022). These all share well defined pleural ridges carrying a single dorsal spine, and long, weakly to strongly dorsally projected, major border spines.…”

“…In derived species, assessing the nature of the tubercles is not always straightforward without the availability of articulated material. In K. seiberti Basse in Basse & Müller, 2004(Basse & Müller, 2016 the positionings of the P2 spines are gradational, migrating progressively adaxially on thoracic segments three to one where P1 is lacking. In exceptional cases, a tubercle or spine is developed between the P1 and P2 spines on some segments of specimens of this same species (Basse & Müller, 2016, pl.…”

“…-The subgenus Pedinopariops (Hypsipariops) was recently elevated to the genus rank by Basse (2006), but we prefer to treat the taxon as a subgenus until there is cladistic support for such an elevation. Overarching similarities make distinctions difficult within the tribe Geesopini, and Pedinopariops (Hypsipariops) has been variably recognized at the subgeneric rank (e.g., Struve 1995), sunken within Pedinopariops (e.g., Basse 1998, Basse & Weddige 2004, or treated as its own distinct genus.…”
