The objective of the study was to evaluate different types of cancer and its chemotherapy in various ethnic groups of Pakistan. Ethnic groups includes, Pukhtoons, Punjabis, Sindhis, Muhajirs, Siraikis, Memoons, Hazaras, Hindkos, Baltis, Gilgitis, Kashmiris, and Afghanis. The data was collected from well reputed hospitals located in the different provinces of Pakistan. The collected data was taken from 15 hospitals where around 8500 patients visited during 2010 to 2017. From the visited patients, 8356 were analyzed for their ethnicity, age and sex while, 144 patients (male 77 and female 67) were excluded from analysis due to incomplete information or loss of follow-up. Among 8356 patients, 3762 were male (45%) whereas, 4594 were female (55%). The chemotherapy was carried out as per National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines (NCCN-guidelines). The most common five prevalent cancer among these ethnic groups were Head and Neck, Blood, Respiratory, Genito-urinary and Breast cancer. The most common cancer in female was breast cancer while, head and neck cancer was more prevalent in male. It can be concluded that the prevalence of cancer in Pakistan is very alarming, which may be due to lack of awareness, illiteracy, lack of national cancer control programs, and economics issues.

The Purpose of this study is to promote awareness concerning increased incidence of colorectal carcinoma in younger population and its clinical as well as pathological features compared to older patients. This cross sectional study was conducted from January 2017 to October 2017 in patients with diagnosis of colorectal carcinoma admitted through emergency or outpatient department to surgical ward of PIMS hospital of Islamabad. Data concerning age, gender, presentation, site of tumor, surgery performed and Dukes staging was used for analysis. Total numbers of patients screened were 250. Patients with colorectal carcinoma were 27. Male patients were 17(63%) and females were 10 (37%). Patients between the ages of 10-20 were 4(15%) out of these 2 were declared unfit for surgery because of widespread tumor within the abdomen as well as distant metastasis. There were 9 (33%) patients between the ages of 21 to 30 while among these 4 were inoperable because of widespread and undifferentiated carcinoma. Patients between the ages of 31 and 40 were 5 (19%), among these 2 were inoperable. The next category of patients was between the ages of 41 to 50, they were 4 (15%). There were 3 (11%) patients between the ages of 51 and 60, and 2 (7%) cases were between the ages of 61 to 70. Total 9 (33.3%) young patients were inoperable and they were of age 50 and below 50. Colorectal Carcinoma is more aggressive among young patients [1,2]. Total Stage D inoperable patients were 11(40.7%) and 18 (82%). Patients between the ages of 10 to 50 had left sided disease.

Aims: To determine the prevalence of cancer in the rest of Cross River State not covered by the population-based cancer registry which is limited to the capital city of Calabar. Study Design: Descriptive retrospective study involving a trend analysis of cancers from the rest of Cross River State not covered by the Calabar cancer registry. Cancers incident in the Pathology and Haematology departments of the University of Calabar Teaching hospital are included in the study. Place and Duration of Study: Pathology and Haematology departments of the University of Calabar Teaching hospital. Data was assessed between April to May 2019. Methodology: An institution-based trend analysis of cancers originating from the rest of Cross River State, out of population-based cancer registry’s coverage was carried out. Such cases incident in the Pathology and Hematology Departments of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital were included. Cancer data from 1st January 2004 to 31st December 2013 was accessed from the archives of both departments. Data extraction was carried out though filling of a check list and these were fed into IBM statistical package for social sciences SPSS version 21 for analysis. Results: Nine hundred and fourty one (941), cancer cases were diagnosed during this period. The mean age of diagnosis was 49.18 ± 18.9.Four hundred and seventy seven (477 or 50.69%) females and 464 or 49.31% males had cancer, representing a female to male ratio 0.97: 1. Overall, the commonest age group was 40 to 64 years (46.3%), followed by 18 to 39 years (25.5%), and 65 years or greater (23.0%).Breast cancer followed by prostate cancer were the commonest cancers in adults, while cancers in the lymphohaematopoietic tissue, soft tissue and eye were the commonest in children. Conclusion: Cancer occurs at an earlier age in the rest of Cross River State, with breast and prostatic cancer dominating. Efforts should be doubled to institute effective screening programmes.
