Typificati on and Correction of Syntaxa From the Class Molinio-Arrhenatheretea Tx. 1937 in Serbia

Abstract: A list of corrected and typified grassland communities of the class Molinio-Arrhenatheretea Tx. 1937 occurring in Serbia was provided. The nomenclature rules of the International Code of Phytosociological Nomenclature were strictly followed. Syntaxonomic affiliation of communities to higher syntaxa was assessed according to the existing syntaxonomical schemes for Serbia, i.e. according to the position determined by the original source. Higher syntaxa followed the synsystem of the so-called “EuroVegChecklist”. … Show more

“…Semi‐natural wet and mesic grasslands of Molinio ‐ Arrhenatheretea in the study area along the southern margin of the Pannonian basin were divided into 14 alliances, initially based on expert judgement but subsequently confirmed using K ‐means classification. Twelve of them were considered alliances in previous vegetation overviews (Šilc and Čarni, 2012; Aćić et al , 2013; Mucina et al , 2016; Škvorc et al , 2017), while one represented a new alliance Salvio nemorosae ‐ Arrhenatherion and the last one was Alopecurion pratensis , which had been previously considered as a synonym of Deschampsion (Mucina et al , 2016). Application of different methods of unsupervised classification of vegetation data often results in different incompatible results due to numerical methods depending on the choice of the classification algorithm, resemblance measure, methods of species cover transformation and data set structure (Tichý et al , 2011, 2014).…”

“…Within Deschampsion we recognized only Succisello inflexae ‐ Deschampsietum cespitosae with three subassociations (Appendices and ). Caricetum tricostato ‐ vulpinae sensu Horvatić, 1930 which is often considered within Deschampsion (Trinajstić, 2008; Aćić et al , 2013) was not recognized. Many of the relevés originally assigned to this association were eliminated as outliers.…”
