Of these, o:-naphthofiavon has been recommended for use as a titration indicator (3) ; it is available as a crystalline substance stable in alcoholic solution for long periods when protected from daylight. It seemed desirable, therefore, to determine whether it could be used in a colorimetric test for the iodine liberated by the reaction of free chlorine in water on potassium iodide, and thus if a method applicable to the routine control of the chlorination process could be developed.…”
