Über die Chloride des zweiwertigen Molybdäns, Wolframs und Tantals. III. Mitteilung.

“…[ M 6 Cl i 12 Cl a 6 ] n – anions ( M = Nb or Ta, Cl i : inner , edge‐bridging chloride ions, Cl a outer, apical chloride ions, n = 4, 3, 2) and protonated (acidic) counter cations were first published as early as 1924. Lindner and Feit reported several trinuclear tantalum and molybdenum cluster compounds with pyridinium cations . Later, it was realized that the metal atom core of the anions of these cluster compounds are hexanuclear with octahedral shape.…”

“…Lindner and Feit reported several trinuclear tantalum and molybdenum cluster compounds with pyridinium cations. [2] Later, it was realized that the metal atom core of the anions of these cluster compounds are hexanuclear with octahedral shape. The formulas of the Ta compounds were corrected to be [Py-H] 2 [Ta 6 Cl 18 ], and [Py-H] 2 [Ta 6 Cl 12 Br 6 ], respectively (Py = pyridine).…”

“…Work done by Lindner and Feit (6,7) in 1922 and 1924 seemed to contradict the findings reported by Ruff and Thomas. They prepared a lower tantalum chloride by reducing tantalum(V) chloride with metallic lead at 600° under a stream of nitrogen.…”
