Show more

“…[113] In order to arrive at this result it was essential to investigate the solution-phase chemistry of molybdates. [120][121][122] Precipitation conditions were chosen such that the synthons coexisted with the linker units in solution. The substantial analytical effort that was required to find the region of coexistence of homonuclear building blocks and linkers prevented systematic optimization with respect to larger length scales, the connectivity of the network, and the reactivity of the initial precipitate to give different crystal sizes and shapes.…”

“…Surfaces of metal oxides usually have positive charge at low pH (our case: pH 0.35, i = 0.43(1), i-ionic strength). Mo(VI) and W(VI) ions in hydrated associates of different compositions probably have a negative charge (a similar to As(V) and Mo(VI) ions (Valencia-Trejo et al 2010;Deedar et al 2009;Xiao et al 2007;Von Tytko et al 1983). At low temperatures, they are adsorbed at the expense of forces of electrostatic character.…”

“…The decavanadate anion's D 2d arrangement of ten edge-shared VO 6 octahedra has been identified in dozens of X-ray structural investigations since 1966. The protonation sites of the anion can be detected by 17 O NMR, and correspond to bridging oxygen atoms. 5,6 Slowly established equilibria connect the decavanadates to the metavanadate domain (pH$ [6][7][8].…”
