Investigation of the Energy Demand of Batch Rectification Using a New Training SimulatorThe energy demand of batch rectification highly depends on the chosen process control strategy and the conversion by the plant operator. With a new dynamic training simulator different process control strategies can be easily developed and tested using the automation standard GRAFCET, which is implemented into the simulator. The impact of the main influencing parameters, i.e., heating power and reflux ratio, on the energy demand is analyzed. The influence of several automatic sequence control variables, like heating rate and starting volume in the reboiler, on the energy demand is investigated.
