Ultra-Weak Chemiluminescence Enhanced by Cerium-Doped LaF3 Nanoparticles: A Potential Nitrite Analysis Method

Abstract: In this work, cerium-doped LaF 3 nanoparticles (LaF 3 :Ce NPs) were successfully synthesized and characterized. Its chemiluminescence (CL) property was studied, and it was amazingly found that it intensely enhanced the ultra-weak CL of the NaNO 2-H 2 O 2 system. The CL mechanism was systematically investigated and suggested to be the recombination of electron-injected and hole-injected LaF 3 :Ce NPs. The new CL system was developed to be a facile, original, and direct method for nitrite analysis. Experimental … Show more

“…Nanomaterials introduced into liquid-phase CL systems generally act as catalysts [35] and luminophores [36,37]. To elucidate the role of Co-MOF and the main light emission species of the system, the CL spectra of the Co-MOF-NaIO 4 -H 2 O 2 system were collected using a transient fluorescence spectrometer.…”

“…Therefore, monitoring whether the amount of nitrite in food is excessive is essential to protect human health, requiring the accurate and timely monitoring of nitrite in food samples. Some methods for the determination of nitrite have been proposed in recent years, such as spectrophotometry [ 4 ], the chemiluminescence method [ 5 ], capillary ion chromatography [ 6 ], capillary electrophoresis [ 7 ], the fluorescence method [ 8 ], the electrochemical sensing method [ 9 ], etc. Particularly, the electrochemical sensing method has attracted more attention because of its simple operation, high sensitivity, and rapid response time.…”

“…Many techniques have been used to synthesize lanthanide-based nanocrystals. In previous research [7], cerium-doped LaF3 nanoparticles (LaF3:Ce NPs) were successfully synthesized using hydrothermal reaction [7]. In other papers, cerium and alanine-doped LaF3 nanocrystals have been synthesized from water-soluble chlorides in distilled water and then dried in a microwave oven to reduce agglomeration [8].…”
