Ultrafine Ag Nanoparticles Anchored on Hollow S-Doped CeO2 Spheres for Synergistically Enhanced Tetracycline Degradation under Visible Light

Abstract: Photocatalytic degradation of organic contaminants is thought to be a potential means for resolving the growing challenge of environmental pollution. However, the efficacy is severely constrained by ineffective light harvesting and slow charge separation. Herein, ultrafine Ag nanoparticles immobilized in sulfur-doped hollow CeO 2 spheres (denoted Ag/CeO 2−x S x ) were synthesized through self-assembly and a subsequent heat-treatment strategy. Obtained Ag/CeO 2−x S x shows promoted utilization efficiency of lig… Show more

“…A distinct set of visible lattice fringes, with a spacing of 0.234 nm, was observed in the HR-TEM image of the CSA nanocomposites, which corresponds to the (111) plane spacing of Ag (Figure 1D). 44 Elemental mapping images of CSA confirmed the presence of Cu, Se, and Ag in CSA, indicating the successful formation of AgNPs on the surface of CS (Figure 1E). In addition, energy-dispersive spectroscopy and elemental mapping of the CSA implied the presence of Se, Ag, S3).…”

“…Figure C confirms the presence of AgNPs, with a size of approximately 10 nm, within the CuSe@Ag (CSA) nanocomposites. A distinct set of visible lattice fringes, with a spacing of 0.234 nm, was observed in the HR-TEM image of the CSA nanocomposites, which corresponds to the (111) plane spacing of Ag (Figure D) . Elemental mapping images of CSA confirmed the presence of Cu, Se, and Ag in CSA, indicating the successful formation of AgNPs on the surface of CS (Figure E).…”
