Ultrafine Co1–xS Attached to Porous Interconnected Carbon Skeleton for Sodium-Ion Batteries

Abstract: Carbon-based materials are effective carriers of metal sulfides because of their good volume stability and chemical stability, which can reduce volume expansion of materials and can also inhibit the interfacial reaction. In this study, Co1–x S incorporated into three-dimensional porous biomass carbon skeleton were synthesized by a template method. The three-dimensional porous carbon with large surface area is favorable for the electrolyte infiltration. The uniform distribution of Co1–x S nanoparticles results … Show more

“…Figure d demonstrates the XRD pattern of the binary sulfide composite, displaying diffraction peaks at 2θ = 14.28, 33.09, 39.45, 43.7, and 58.49°, which are related to the (002), (100), (103), (006), and (110) reflections of hexagonal WS 2 , respectively . Moreover, the diffraction peaks at 2θ = 20.08, 21.89, 30.52, 35.68, 46.8, and 54.82° are indexed to the (200), (211), (100), (101), (102), and (110) reflections of the hexagonal Co 1– x S phase, respectively . Besides, it is noticed that there is no apparent diffraction peak at 2θ ∼ 26°, which could be ascribed to the production of the amorphous carbon matrix or due to its lower relative diffraction intensity with respect to those of the metal sulfides …”

“…In addition, the quick recombination of photogenerated charges is also another limitation for achieving a high photocatalytic efficiency of TiO 2 . 8 Therefore, various modification methods, such as doping metal ions and nonmetal elements, [9][10][11][12][13] coupling narrow-band semiconductors, [14][15][16] and combining conjugated polymers, 17,18 have been developed and employed to broaden the light response range of TiO 2 and reduce the recombination of charge carriers.…”
