Ultralight hybrid silica aerogels derived from supramolecular hydrogels self-assembled from insoluble nano building blocks

Abstract: Physical hydrogels self-assembled from GO and SiO2–NH2 nanoparticles are observed, and they could be transferred into corresponding ultralow density aerogels.

“…Polymer-based material and biomaterial (e.g., cellulose) aerogels [6,7] are another hot topic, constituting 17.8% of the total literature studies [8]. Among the polymer-based aerogels, the pure polymer aerogels have gained intensive interest in recent years, due to their exceptional flexible properties and attractive applications in the field of energy, sensors, and high-tech biomedical applications [9][10][11].…”

“…In addition, the aerogels powder for external use can accordingly easily fall off from the seam. With the addition of other organic substances, the function of aerogel itself will be limited and its thermal insulation performance will be reduced, and the durability of the coating is synchronously poor [21,22].…”

“…These are all landmarks for the synthesis of HTRAs. Recently, the development of aerogels is much more diverse, such as new ceramic aerogels, [25][26][27] graphene aerogels, [28][29][30] MXene aerogels, [31,32] and supramolecular polymeric aerogels, [33][34][35][36] have been reported.…”
