“…The most concentrated solution investigated for this biosensor platform was 250 ng/ml peptide concentration (Figure a); however, it was not tabulated in Figure c as the intensity of the suppressed signal approached that of the noise (S/ N < 3). On the other hand, the LOD was calculated to be 0.5 pg/ml, which was the minimum concentration that satisfies a linear response using this platform . Along with Demeritte and coworkers, this value is also the lowest LOD reported for nanobiosensors that detect soluble Aβ(1–42).…”

“…ThT‐modified substrates were immersed into aqueous Aβ (1–42) solutions with various concentrations for 12 hr at 4 °C, washed with DI water, and then dried at ambient conditions. The variation in the intensity of ThT SERS peak at 1,601 cm −1 was followed against increasing Aβ (1–42) concentrations, where a linear decrease was observed and the LOD for Aβ (1–42) was defined as the lowest concentration that follows this linear trend . In the dynamic range calculation, the maximum relevant Aβ 1–42 concentration was determined by comparing the suppressed ThT SERS signal to the noise of the system at 1,601 cm −1 .…”

“…[4][5][6] SERS can also be utilized in multiplex detection due to structural and ngerprint information with excellent frequency resolution. 7,8 Therefore, SERS spectroscopy, as a non-destructive and in situ technique, has been widely applied in food safety, 9,10 biomarker detection, [11][12][13] forensic science, 14,15 environment monitoring [16][17][18] and other trace level analysis elds. 19,20 Alumina is well known as being chemically inert and tolerant of oxidation and high temperature.…”
