Ultrasmall Oxygen‐Deficient Bimetallic Oxide MnWOX Nanoparticles for Depletion of Endogenous GSH and Enhanced Sonodynamic Cancer Therapy

Abstract: Sonodynamic therapy (SDT) triggered by ultrasound (US) has attracted increasing attention owing to its abilities to overcome critical limitations including low tissue‐penetration depth and phototoxicity in photodynamic therapy. Herein, the design of a new type of sonosensitizer is revealed, namely, ultrasmall oxygen‐deficient bimetallic oxide MnWOX nanoparticles, for multimodal imaging‐guided enhanced SDT against cancer. As‐made MnWOX nanoparticles with poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) modification show high physio… Show more

“…To investigate the potential of Fe‐DSCP‐PEG as a Fenton agent, 5‐dimethyl‐pyrroline n‐oxide (DMPO) was chosen as the trapping agent for ·OH during electron spin resonance (ESR) test 20. To realistically stimulate the physiological environment of tumor, 10 × 10 −3 m GSH and 0.1 × 10 −3 m H 2 O 2 were simultaneously added to the aqueous media of nanoparticles (Fe 3+ /Zn 2+ : 1.8 × 10 −3 m ).…”

“…[343][344][345][346] Chen's team has been aggressively explored synergistic SDT for cancer therapeutics based on nanomedicine. SDT has the advantages in deeper tissue penetration and nonphototoxicity to NT compared with PDT, providing a promising cancer therapy paradigm and receiving an increasing amount of research attention.…”
