“…Butterfly pea (scientific name: Clitoria ternatea ) is a plant species belonging to the Fabaceae family; it has a bright blue color and is rich in phenolic compounds, mainly flavonol glycosides, anthocyanins, and proanthocyanidins. The authors proposed that Clitoria ternatea could play a variety of roles: as an antioxidant (Escher et al, 2020; Verma, Itankar, & Arora, 2013), antibacterial agent (Anthika, Kusumocahyo, & Sutanto, 2015), in scavenging free radicals, and preventing cardiovascular diseases (Verma et al, 2013).
