Ultrasonic assisted synthesis of two new coordination polymers and their applications as precursors for preparation of nano-materials

Abstract: Two new isostructural coordination polymers, [Zn(Oba)][MeNH)]·6DMF·3HO (1) and [Cd(Oba)][MeNH)]·2DMF·2HO (2), were synthesized using the nonlinear dicarboxylate ligand, 4,4'-oxybis(benzoic acid) (Hoba) and characterized by IR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray crystallography. Single-crystal X-ray data show that 1 and 2 are two-dimensional coordination polymers that can be extended to three-dimensional supramolecular networks by CH…O interactions. These two new coordination polymers were also sonochemically… Show more

“…Coordination polymers are interesting metal-organic hybrid materials in which metal ions or metal-containing clusters act as nodes and organic ligands act as spacers; both units are linked via coordination bonds to form one-, two-or three-dimensional extended structures [1]. This class of compounds has been used as electrodes in supercapacitors [2], gas storage/separation and ion exchange [3][4][5][6][7][8], biological and material science [9,10], sensing [11][12][13][14][15], precursors for the preparation of nano-materials [16], magnetism [17][18][19][20][21], luminescent materials nonlinear optics [22][23][24][25], catalysis [26][27][28][29],.…”

“…Transition metals coordination polymers are known for their interesting structures [1,2] and useful properties including third-order nonlinear optical response and luminescency [3,4]. They are also used as precursors for synthesis of the transition metal oxides in a nano size [5,6]. The copper(I) ion with d 10 electronic configuration is suitable for the FULL PAPER 202 Khalaji et al…”
