“…In line with other studies (8,9,10), patients presenting with symptoms of pain, swelling, or meal time syndrome initially underwent B-mode ultrasound of the salivary glands. Computerised tomography was performed when ultrasound results were inconclusive; this helped us assess the size, location, and number of calculi, as well as those calculi in the deeper parts of the submandibular or parotid gland that were not picked up by ultrasound.…”

“…In all 15 patients, both sides of the submandibular glands were involved (30 of 30 glands). The glands ranged in size from 27 to 50 mm (average, 39.1 mm; median, 39.0 mm) in the maximum longitudinal diameter (normal mean adult size ± SD, 27 ± 5.7 mm) and 17 to 40 mm (average, 28.4 mm; median, 27.0 mm) in the depth (normal adult size, 14.3 ± 2.9 mm) 20 . All of the glands showed well‐defined borders.…”

“…Sonography revealed that both sides of the submandibular glands were involved in both patients. The glands ranged in size from 35 to 44 mm in the maximum longitudinal diameter (normal adult size, mean ± SD, 27 ± 5.7 mm) and 27 to 30 mm in the depth (normal adult size, 14.3 ± 2.9 mm) 11 . All 4 of the glands showed well‐defined borders with a normal contour (Figures 1A and 2A).…”
