“…Detection of diaphragm dysfunction by US over the chest wall can be performed at the bedside. 8 In our patient, mild abnormalities were found on single-fiber EMG without a decremental response during repetitive nerve stimulation, suggesting minor neuromuscular junction dysfunction, likely too mild for significant respiratory muscle weakness to be present from myasthenia gravis. Clinical findings, fibrillation potentials of the diaphragm on EMG, and a thin diaphragm on US support a myopathic process as the major factor causing respiratory failure in this patient.…”

“…Fibrillation potentials on needle EMG of the diaphragm can prove active muscle damage, but there is a risk of pneumothorax. Detection of diaphragm dysfunction by US over the chest wall can be performed at the bedside . In our patient, mild abnormalities were found on single‐fiber EMG without a decremental response during repetitive nerve stimulation, suggesting minor neuromuscular junction dysfunction, likely too mild for significant respiratory muscle weakness to be present from myasthenia gravis.…”

“…Although CMAP amplitude is utilized in assessing the degree of innervation, CMAP duration and latency have clinical value in evaluating nerve conduction and myelination. These two CMAP measures are somewhat related because they are principally affected by the speed of axonal signal propagation.…”

“…Successful transcutaneous stimulation of the RLN will likely require detailed anatomical understanding of the course of the nerve, 25 with the possible assistance of ultrasound. 26 Although CMAP amplitude is utilized in assessing the degree of innervation, [27][28][29] CMAP duration and latency have clinical value in evaluating nerve conduction and myelination. These two CMAP measures are somewhat related because they are principally affected by the speed of axonal signal propagation.…”

“…-Grosor diafragmático: El grosor del diafragma depende de la masa muscular y esta se correlaciona con la capacidad vital forzada 73 . La disminución del grosor diafragmático se asocia al descenso de amplitud valorada por electromiografía y puede indicar la presencia de atrofia 23, 74 .…”
