Ultrasonography of liver and spleen in bovine benign theileriosis

Abstract: Ultrasonographic evaluation of liver and spleen was carried out in cattle suffering from bovine benign theileriosis. Diagnosis revealed bovine benign theileriosis (BBT) caused by Theileria orientalis and the conformation was done by Polymerase chain reaction. The ultrasonographic examination of the liver revealed increased echogenicity, which denotes diffuse hepatic changes, when correlated with the serum biochemistry showed a significant (P<0.05) reduction in mean serum albumin and an alteration in albumin-gl… Show more

“…The present study showed that in 03 calves required doses of injections for complete recovery. In contrast to the findings of Devadevi et al (2018) [2] , a single intramuscular dosage of buparvaquone at 2.5 mg/kg body weight demonstrated 100% recovery and removed the Theileria organism from the bloodstream. According to Singh et al (2013) [11] , in these particular circumstances, vitamin supplementation may have helped to improve the anemia of the affected calves by reducing the oxidative damage to erythrocytes caused by Theileria.…”

“…The intramuscular method of buparvaquone at a dose rate of 2.5 mg/kg body weight was found to be efficacious. The outcome matched that of Devadevi et al (2018) [2] . The present study showed that in 03 calves required doses of injections for complete recovery.…”

“…Whereas mild enlargement of chambers cannot be detected in cattle due to deeply penetrating Purkinje fibers and the depolarization and repolarization occurring concurrently over multiple minor fronts [4]. Devadevi et al [5] reported that electrocardiography is a useful aid in diagnosis of anemia in cattle affected with benign bovine theileriosis. Fetal electrocardiograms in dairy cattle were found to be useful in detection of multiple pregnancies [6].…”
