Hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is a debilitating chronic dermatologic condition characterized by inflammation of the pilosebaceous glands in skin complicated by the formation of abscesses, sinus tracts, and scarring. HS is associated with long‐term psychosocial and physical consequences. The elucidation of the pathophysiology of HS is evolving leading to the discovery of possible therapeutic options. The relapsing nature of HS and a lack of definitive curative therapy makes the need for timely treatment important to slow down disease progression. Treatment modalities vary and include local antiseptics, intralesional corticosteroids, topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, oral retinoids, antiandrogens, biologics, and surgical interventions, among others. The purpose of this review is to discuss topical and intralesional therapies for the management of HS.
