Ultrasound elastography – Review

Abstract: 11It remains unclear if Phe was limiting in the Control ration or if RP Phe was not fed at high enough levels to have a measurable response on production. However, it is clear that AA limitations, requirements and production responses are governed by much more than plasma AA levels. Results further suggest that AA are bioactive metabolites to the extent that they can change animal performance, even when they are not "limiting" per se, and that their supplementation to practical dairy cattle diets should be app… Show more

“…Elastography is an established technique for quantitatively obtaining biomechanical properties of tissue by using an imaging modality to detect displacements. Traditional elastographic techniques such as ultrasound elastography (USE) 35 , 36 and magnetic resonance elastography (MRE) 37 , 38 are clinically available tools for detecting diseases such as hepatic fibrosis 39 and breast cancer. 40 However, these techniques require relatively large displacement amplitudes and have poor spatial and temporal resolutions, which limit their use for small and thin samples such as ocular tissues.…”

“…Tissue stiffness correlates with the propagation speed of the shear waves with faster propagation speed present in stiffer tissues. 13 Elastography was shown to have a similar accuracy for the assessment of liver fibrosis as biopsy and is considered an alternative method for liver fibrosis in people. 14 There are multiple recent studies evaluating the role of shear wave elastography in veterinary medicine, including the liver in healthy dogs 15 and cats 16 as well as hepatic fibrosis in dogs.…”

“…The primary markers used are the evaluation of the patient, evaluation of maternal signs and symptoms (menstrual‐like cramping, mild‐irregular contractions, low backache, pressure sensation in the vagina or pelvis), clinical examination, evaluation of cervical length with biochemical indicators and ultrasonography 3,4 . Ultrasound elastography has become an increasingly common method, which is an imaging technique that assesses the elastic properties of soft tissues 5 . It can be used in many organs to evaluate a variety of diseases.…”

There are very few studies with elastographic examinations about preterm labor in the literature.…”
