“…Laparoscopic RITA seems to carry a greater incidence of total necrosis in tumors with a diameter larger than 3 cm [26]. Laparoscopic RITA can obtain a greater volume of necrosis in these lesions because it is possible to perform a more aggressive approach using clustered electrodes, repeated needle placements, or adjuvant ethanol injections [12] without increasing the risk of complications [34,36].…”

“…Biopsy of liver nodules was routinely performed through alternate trocar sites using an automatic disposable 18-gauge biopsy needle (Temno, Bauer Medical, Santo Domingo). A ''protected'' technique [36] (already used for percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsy [1]) permitted the surgeon to work with the additional security of a protected needle tract even when multiple passes were required.…”

“…Once the diaphragm is exposed, TTRFA requires expertise in the use of ultrasound [7]. The ultrasound probe is placed directly on the diaphragm, and frequencies of 3 to 7 MHz provide excellent visualization.…”

“…After pneumoperitoneal insufflation to about 12 mmHg, complete laparoscopic disease staging was performed with the aid of laparoscopic ultrasonography [22]. After lesion location, insufflation pressure was reduced to 6 mmHg, the colonic segment containing the lesion was carefully manoeuvred to the abdominal wall with the aid of atraumatic graspers, and the site of percutaneous access was selected.…”
