Ultrasound‐guided versus Nonguided Tibiotalar Joint and Sinus Tarsi Injections: A Cadaveric Study

Abstract: In this cadaveric study, US guidance produced superior accuracy compared with nonguided injections with respect to both the tibiotalar joint and sinus tarsi. Although further research is warranted, clinicians should consider US guidance to optimize injectate placement into these areas when optimal accuracy is necessary for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes.

“…Needle-based clinical procedures such as nerve block, fluid aspiration, therapeutic injections, and biopsy can be performed under ultrasound (US) image guidance [2][3][4][5][6][7]. The use of US imaging allows for real-time visualization of needles within the desired anatomical context.…”

“…Literatürde tarif edilmiş diğer yöntemlere üstünlüğünü kanıtlamıştır (6)(7)(8)(9)14). Fakat buna rağmen her eklemde aynı başarıyı göstermemektedir (12,16,17). Retrospektif değerlendirmede gördük ki ayak bileğinde ultrason kılavuzluğundaki enjeksiyon başarısı yüzde yüz iken glenohumeral eklemde daha düşüktü.…”
