Ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of female infertility

Abstract

Advances during the last 20 years have enabled couples who previously believed themselves to be infertile to have children. Diagnosis and effective treatment of infertility can be a complex procedure. Ultrasound is a relatively cheap non-invasive method of monitoring changes in the female reproductive system and can be used in a wide range of infertility situations, from baseline pelvic assessment to monitoring of treatment for in-vitro fertilization.
