Ultrastable Luminescent Hybrid Bromide Perovskite@MOF Nanocomposites for the Degradation of Organic Pollutants in Water

Abstract: Hybrid bromide perovskites (HBPs) have emerged as a promising candidate in optoelectronic applications, although instability of the materials under working conditions has retarded the progress toward commercialization. As a rational approach to address this core issue, we herein report the synthesis of a series of ultrastable composite materials, wherein HBP nanocrystals (NCs) have been stabilized within a well-known chemically stable metal–organic framework (MOF) viz. zeolitic imidazolate framework (ZIF-8) vi… Show more

“…All the stability-related experiments for the nanocomposites were executed maintaining similar conditions, in which bare NCs were readily prone to decompose. 22,53 To ensure open-air stability, both composites were kept in the open air for a few months (Fig. 2a, S31 and S32, ESI †) and retention of the original PL intensity (>80%) was found, demonstrating their long-term air stability.…”

“…Ghosh et al. reported a ZIF‐8‐stabilized MAPbBr 3 heterojunction (i.e., MAPbBr 3 @ZIF‐8) for the photodegradation of toxic organic dyes in water e, ZIF‐8 alone shows no activity towards the photodegradation of MO molecules.…”
