“…Recently, it has also been reported in transgenic plants of Nicotiana tabacum (Sidorchuk et al 2007). Cytomixis is more commonly observed in meiotic cells but it has also been reported to occur in the somatic cells (Kostritsyna and Soldatov 1991, Wang et al 2004, Guzicka and Wozny 2005.…”

“…After it was first recorded by Arnoldi (1900), the phenomenon of cytomixis and other abnormalities responsible for abnormal meiotic behavior and reduced pollen fertility have been reported in a number of flowering plants (Vorsa and Bingham 1979, Singhal and Gill 1985, Mendes-Bonato et al 2002, Malallah and Attia 2003, Lattoo et al 2006, Singhal and Kumar 2008a, b, 2010, 2010, b, 2014, Singhal et al 2009, b, Himshikha et al 2010, Kumar 2010, Kravets 2013, Rana et al 2013. At an ultrastructural level, researchers have observed migration of nuclei through single or multiple chromatin channels, chromatin condensation in chromatin channels, restoration of its structure in the recipient cell, formation of micronuclei, and formation of cell chains connected via migrating nuclei (Feijo and Pais 1989, Wang et al 2004, Mursalimov and Deineko 2011, Mursalimov et al 2013a. The extra chromatin masses resulting from the transferred chromatin, usually located away from the main chromosome complement, showed delayed division and contributed to the formation of chromosomal laggards, micronuclei and pollen grains of different sizes, and most importantly pollen sterility.…”

“…Já em outros casos, a conexão citoplasmática parecia ocorrer entre várias células ao mesmo tempo, sendo que, umas funcionavam como doadoras e outras como receptoras. Em tecidos da antera de tabaco, Wang et al (2004) observaram que uma célula mãe de grão de pólen pode aceitar material genético de uma célula via canal citomítico enquanto direciona seu material para outra célula vizinha, tal fenômeno também foi observado no presente trabalho. curcas.…”
