Uncertainty Quantification of Film Cooling Performance of an Industrial Gas Turbine Vane

Abstract: Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) results are often presented in a deterministic way despite the uncertainties related to boundary conditions, numerical modelling, and discretization error. Uncertainty quantification is the field studying how these phenomena affect the numerical result. With these methods, the results obtained are directly comparable with the experimental ones, for which the uncertainty related to the measurement is always shown. This work presents an uncertainty quantification approach appli… Show more

“…It may be summarized that uncertainty quantification and radial turbines were the main points for exploration. A match occurs with the examination of the work in [34]. Uncertainty quantification, as well as a polynomial chaos approach, were situated in both empirical documents.…”

“…The Sobol SA of model output [14,15] is very popular and has been applied in many engineering studies; see, e.g., [57][58][59][60][61][62][63]. The basic concept can be introduced as follows.…”

“…Variance-based SA (generally called Sobol SA) introduces uncertainty as variance and decomposes the variance of the output of the model or system into portions that can be attributed to inputs or sets of inputs [2,3]. Sobol SA is very popular; the principles of the method are often mentioned [4][5][6][7][8] and many articles have applied Sobol SA in their research [9][10][11][12][13].…”
