Uncoordinated‐substituents‐induced zinc(II) coordination polymers exhibiting multifunctional fluorescent sensing activity for cations, anions and organochlorine pesticides

Abstract: In order to explore the influence of carboxylic acid substituents on the structures and properties of coordination polymers, three new coordination polymers (CPs) of [Zn 2 (L) 2 (IP) 2 ] (1), [Zn(L)(HIP)] • 3H 2 O (2) and [Zn(L)(NIP)] • H 2 O (3) [H 2 IP = isophthalic acid, H 2 HIP = 5-hydroxyisophthalic acid, H 2 NIP = 5-nitroisophthalic acid] were designed and synthesized under hydrothermal conditions with a multi-torsion-centered N-donor ligand of N,N'-bis(4-methylenepyridin-4-yl)-1,4-naphthalene dicarboxam… Show more

“…The species with a 4,4-connected two-dimensional structure, [Zn 2 (mpnd) 2 (1,3-bdc) 2 ] n ( 38 ) and [Zn(mpnd)(hip)] n ·3nH 2 O ( 39 ) (H 2 hip=5-hydroxyisophthalic acid, mpnd = N , N ’-bis(4-methylenepyridin-4-yl)-1,4-naphthalene dicarboxamide), were synthesized under hydrothermal conditions. Both species exhibit multi-functional fluorescent responses towards Fe(III), MnO 4 2− , CrO 4 2− , Cr 2 O 7 2− , and 2,6-DC-4-NA with the DL in the range 10 −4 –10 −5 M [ 64 ].…”

“…Nitro-containing pesticides are extensively used in the laboratory and agriculture production and are considered as environmental pollutants and potentially toxic to living organisms. 27–31 Therefore, considering good stability in organic solvents and establishing the optimum emission properties, CPs 1 and 2 were investigated to explore the prospective applications of the luminescence probe for recognizing pesticides, including 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP), carbaryl, atrazine, nitrofen, 1,3-dichlorobenzene (1,3-DCB), 3,5-dinitrobenzoic acid (3,5-DBA), 5-ditroisophthalic acid (5-NIA), 2,6-dichloro-4-nitroaniline (2,6-DCNA) and 4-nitroaniline (4-NA). CPs 1 and 2 were uniformly dispersed in dichloromethane solutions containing the various pesticides and emission spectra were then measured (Fig.…”

[27][28][29][30][31] Therefore, considering good stability in organic solvents and establishing the optimum emission properties, CPs To further explore the quenching effect of 1 and 2 toward 2,6-DCNA and 4-NA, the sensing dependencies of luminescence intensity on the concentrations of 2,6-DCNA and 4-NA were investigated by immersing finely ground samples (50 mg) of 1 and 2 into the pesticides dispersed in dichloromethane solutions with various concentrations (0.005-0.160 mM). The concentration-dependent measurements demonstrate that the emission intensities of 1 and 2 gradually declined upon increasing concentration and when above 1 mM was reached, the emissions were quenched entirely (Fig.…”
