In addition, the iDISCO protocol produces significant shrinkage of the tissue by up to 50% of its volume ( Velíšek, 2016 ), which likely reflects loss of its watery mucus content and highlights the need for improving the protocol to ensure better preservation of the tissue structure and its mucus gel.…”
