Under which circumstances is a conservative treatment of a splenic rupture possible?

Abstract: In children even a certain splenic rupture allows an expectant attitude provided that circulation is stable, abdominal symptoms recede, and an intensive care over several days including ultrasound sonography is assured. We were able to proceed in this manner in five out of 37 children; without an operation we reached the restitution of the spleen.
