Undergraduate Engineering Program Evaluation, Assessment, and Continuous Improvement Process: A Case Study

Abstract

A robust engineering program assessment, evaluation, and continuous improvement process is at the core of ABET accreditation and is essential to establishing and sustaining a quality undergraduate program in engineering. In this paper, the authors present their unique experience and lessons learnt in the process of achieving ABET accreditation for the first time for the Electrical Engineering program at Prince Mohammad bin Fahd University (KSA). Accreditation was achieved for a full term of six years plus two years of retroactive accreditation. This paper will also present and discuss the continuous improvement process employed and the various assessment tools developed for both direct and indirect assessment of student outcomes.
