“…Based on morphological characters, Landrum (1986) organized 18 species of Campomanesia, distributed into three informal groups: "Campomanesia grandi ora complex", "Campomanesia guazumifolia complex" and "Campomanesia xanthocarpa complex"; several of its species were poorly known or had unde ned a nities. A recent phylogenetic analysis conducted by Oliveira et al (2021), based on the internal transcribed spacer of ribosomal DNA (ITS region), revealed that the "C. xanthocarpa complex" is not monophyletic. Its species emerge in two distinct lineages, designated as "C. xanthocarpa Group" and "C. eugenioides Group", the former also including species of the "C. guaviroba complex".…”
