Understanding Stress Effects on Borehole Acoustic Waves for Unconventional Shale Reservoirs

Abstract: Acoustic velocities in many sedimentary rocks exhibit stress sensitivity. This behaviour has been validated through experiments, observed from field measurements, and is described by the acoustoelastic model.
