Unilateral facial emphysema secondary to a minor trauma

Abstract: Emphysema following fractures involving maxillary sinus is rare. A case with unilateral traumatic facial emphysema due to a tiny fracture of the base of maxillary sinus is presented. Fig. 1 CT section reveals subcutaneous emphysema in the periorbital, supraparotid, parapharnygeal and pterygomandibular spaces
