Unilateral gustatory flushing in a teenager

Abstract: Unilateral gustatory flushing (also known as Frey syndrome) is presumed to be caused by injury to the autonomic component of the auriculotemporal nerve. It is important to distinguish the symptoms from those of food-induced allergy to avoid unnecessary investigation. The signs of Frey syndrome can persist for several years and can cause patients to feel self-conscious.
