Unit Commitment Comprehensive Optimal Model Considering the Cost of Wind Power Curtailment and Deep Peak Regulation of Thermal Unit

Abstract: Clean renewable energy is given high priority to generate power in power system dispatching. Unfortunately, the objective to minimize wind power curtailment may results in additional costs, since the inverse peak regulation characteristic of wind power probably result in redundant power qualities curtailed to ensure the balance of the electric supply and demand in real time. In this paper, considering the cost of deep peak regulation of thermal unit and wind power curtailment, unit commitment comprehensive opt… Show more

“…Even the proposed optimization method is designed for one SVC at the last AT, the proposed method can be modified for the system including multiple SVCs with few efforts because increase in position vector size can be easily adopted for PSO, which is relative advantages of heuristic optimization method [25]. Thus, the proposed optimization method is also scalable for general railway traction system similar with the power flow calculation method.…”

“…Recently, the inclusion of WP resources, along with thermal generating units, in the generation scheduling problems, such as dispatch problems and unit commitment problems, has attracted much attention [4][5][6]. Unfortunately, under-estimation and overestimation of available WP have posed many difficulties in the resolution of such problems.…”

“…Obviously, to restrict the REP level is the most effective way to maintain the frequency stability of the low-inertia system, but a huge waste of energy is by Yan et al (2017) and Yang et al (2020), and the maximum power point operation is used by Ochoa and Martinez (2017), Kumar et al (2018), and Kumar et al (2019) to enable REG to provide frequency regulation. The photovoltaic generator and wind turbine are operated below the maximum power point with virtual inertia controllers, and the active power reserved by battery storages is applied to system frequency regulation (Kumar et al, 2018;Kumar et al, 2019).…”
