Universal three-body recombination and Efimov resonances in an ultracold Li-Cs mixture

Abstract: We study Efimov resonances via three-body loss in an ultracold two-component gas of fermionic 6 Li and bosonic 133 Cs atoms close to a Feshbach resonance at 843 G, extending results reported previously [Pires et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 112, 250404 (2014)] to temperatures around 120 nK. The experimental scheme for reaching lower temperatures is based upon compensating the gravityinduced spatial separation of the mass-imbalanced gases with bichromatic optical dipole traps. We observe the first and second excited L… Show more

“…However, in the case of two heavy bosonic atoms of mass M (denoted H) and one light atom of mass m < M (denoted L), this factor can become significantly smaller than the value 22.7 for identical bosons [2,[12][13][14]. Relaxation and recombination losses near an interspecies resonance have recently been investigated in mixtures of Cesium and Lithium atoms and three consecutive Cs-Cs-Li Efimov resonances were observed in agreement with the predicted scaling relations [15][16][17][18][19]. The effect of the Cs-Cs scattering length on the Efimov resonances was investigated in Refs.…”

“…(25), −267a B and −1667a B , respectively, agree well with Ref. [24]. Similar good agreement between the first order perturbative treatment of a 22 corrections with experiments even in the large a 22 /a 12 regime is also seen in the correlations among the a (n) − values observed in Ref.…”
