Photocatalytic hydrogen production from water splitting is an environmentally friendly and cost‐effective technology to achieve green hydrogen. In recent years, bimetallic sulfides (BMS) have been considered as promising candidates compared to monometallic sulfides due to the tunable energy band structure, higher number of active sites, and good chemical stability, resulting in high performance of photocatalytic hydrogen production. Herein, recent progress of BMS in photocatalytic hydrogen production has been addressed comprehensively. First, two commonly employed methods for synthesizing BMS with tailored morphological characteristics are discussed and compared. Then, the main functions of BMS are unraveled to aid in promoting photocatalytic hydrogen evolution performance intrinsically. Detailed applications of BMS both as a single photocatalyst and in heterojunction composite systems of three typical categories with unique properties and catalytic performance are summarized, focusing on their charge transfer behaviors and hydrogen production performance. In the end, research trends and prospects of BMS‐based photocatalysts are also proposed. This review is believed to unveil new advances and features of BMS‐based nanomaterials toward practical benefits and future research for highly efficient and robust photocatalytic H2 generation catalysts.

Synthesis of nano‐particles using various greener approaches such as the use of plant extract, microbes, etc. is gaining a lot of popularity in the scientific community due to their advantages of being a cheaper protocol, reduction in the use of less hazardous chemicals, more environmentally benign method and good yield. It has been previously reported by many research groups that plant material provides reducing, capping as well as stabilizing agents and brings down biological and environmental risks in the green synthesis of nano‐particles. So it was thought worthwhile to synthesize copper oxide nano‐particles (CuO NPs) using some locally available medicinal plants. Rivina humilis L. plants which are available in our region of Vidarbha in Maharashtra State, India are considered to be the herbal plant for the treatment of respiratory‐related disorders mainly for asthma and cold by local tribal peoples. It has been found that it contains a variety of phytochemicals which can be employed for the synthesis of nanomaterials. With this aim it was thought worthwhile to present an efficient and greener approach for the synthesis of copper oxide nano‐particles using Rivina humilis L. (RH) whole plant extract. For characterization of bio‐synthesized CuO NPs, various spectral and analytical techniques such as UV‐Vis spectroscopy, FT‐IR, XRD, SEM, TEM, and EDS were employed. The newly synthesized CuO NPs were also tested for their potential biological activities against six different bacterial stains namely E. coli, P. aeruginosa, S. aureus, P. vulgaris, B. subtilis, and S. typhi using the well diffusion method. The antioxidant efficacy of the synthesized CuO NPs was undertaken through 1,1‐Diphenyl‐2‐picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical scavenging activity. Their results have been presented and discussed in the present work.

The design and fabrication of NO‐evolving core‐shell nanoparticles (denoted as NC@Fe), comprised of BNN6‐laden COF@Fe3O4 nanoparticles, are reported. This innovation extends to the modification of 3D printed polyetheretherketone scaffolds with NC@Fe, establishing a pioneering approach to multi‐modal bone therapy tailored to address complications such as device‐associated infections and osteomyelitis. This work stands out prominently from previous research, particularly those relying on the use of antibiotics, by introducing a bone implant capable of simultaneous NO gas therapy and photothermal therapy (PPT). Under NIR laser irradiation, the Fe3O4 NP core (photothermal conversion agent) within NC@Fe absorbs photoenergy and initiates electron transfer to the loaded NO donor (BNN6), resulting in controlled NO release. The additional heat generated through photothermal conversion further propels the NC@Fe nanoparticles, amplifying the therapeutic reach. The combined effect of NO release and PPT enhances the efficacy in eradicating bacteria over a more extensive area around the implant, presenting a distinctive solution to conventional challenges. Thorough in vitro and in vivo investigations validate the robust potential of the scaffold in infection control, osteogenesis, and angiogenesis, emphasizing the timeliness of this unique solution in managing complicated bone related infectious diseases.
