Unraveling the contemporary drivers of renewable energy consumption: Evidence from regime types

Abstract: The detrimental effect of climate change and pollutant emissions has shifted the attention of researchers and policymakers toward renewable energy resources. To unravel the underexplored determinants of renewable energy consumption, this study examines the individual and combined effect of innovativeness, regulatory quality, trade openness, and tax attractiveness after controlling for per capita GDP, financial liberalization, inflation, and political stability. In addition, system‐generalized method of moments… Show more

“…but with prompt exhaustion of these energy sources for power generation and growing energy demand, globally, the primary usage of energy increased by 1.8% during 2012 (British Petroleum, 2014). Whereas, a rapid climate change and global warming originated by greenhouse gas emissions have been seen as an emerging issue of the modern world due to the combustion of fossil fuels (Yahya & Rafiq, 2019), (Destek & Sinha, 2020). As a result, several issues arise, i.e., resource depletion, local energy supply and energy security issues that lead to foreign energy dependency (Saad & Taleb, 2018), (Kahia et al, 2017).…”

“…At the international level, although many studies on renewable energy exist, they have focused largely on the demand for total renewable energy (Ackah and Kizys, 2015; Ergun et al , 2019; Yahya and Rafiq, 2019). Where data is available, investigations that will offer evidence of the determinants of specific renewable energy types will be necessary for the effective formulation of policy guidelines.…”

“…Analysis of the demand for combustible renewable and waste, which is a form of renewable energy, has not received much attention from researchers, despite data availability. Moreover, the effect of financial development (Yahya and Rafiq, 2019; Mehrara et al , 2015; Anton and Nucu, 2020) and industrialization (Malik et al , 2014) on renewable energy consumption has been empirically under-researched, comparatively. This study, thus, includes demand for combustible renewable and waste in the empirical analysis of the drivers of renewable energy demand.…”

“…Most of the HV equipment for example, transformers, capacitors, switches and circuit breakers, use billions of liters of insulating liquid (as shown in Figure 1). This oil basically performs three essential functions, i.e., (1) it electrically offers insulation between different active elements and also performs as a preventive coating film to avoid corrosion of metallic areas; (2) it efficiently removes the heat from core and conductors by the action of conduction and transports heat to enclosing container, that is later discharged outward to the environment and (3) it behaves as a healthiness index for HV equipment. Using condition monitoring analysis of oil, the state of electric equipment can be constantly monitored.…”

“…Due to rising global energy demands, the electricity industry is confronting this problem. The electricity sector is constantly emerging since the commencement [ 2 ]. During the last few decades, technology innovations have surfaced to address imminent energy requirements, highlighting primarily two subjects: sustainability and efficiency [ 3 ].…”
