The knowledge and the improvement of the electric responsiveness of P(VDF-co-TrFE) copolymer and P(VDF-ter-TrFE-ter-CTFE) terpolymer films are essential for their application in electronic devices. Many factors affect the performances of these electroactive films, such as the chemical composition and the thermal treatment. In this article, the response to an external electric field of copolymer and terpolymer films at both the nanometric and macroscopic scales is studied. The response at the nanometric scale is analyzed by piezoresponse force microscopy on thin films (∼100 nm thick), while that at the macroscopic scale is analyzed by measuring the electric displacement–electric field loops on thick films (∼20 μm thick). The effect of the chemical composition (CTFE content) is found to be crucial, both at the nanometric and macroscopic scales, in defining the electroactive behavior of the samples, while the thermal treatment seems more exacerbated at the nanometric scale. The orientation, shape, and size of the crystalline lamellae affect the orientation of the electric dipoles, which are thus more or less sensitive to the applied electric field. The controlled growth of edge-on lamellar stacks, obtained after crystallization from the melt at low cooling rates, provides a better piezoresponse of the film.

In the age of data science, voice data can be treated as one of the crucial assets used for strengthening biometrics technologies and biomedical applications. However, voice biometrics is still at emergence state facing voice variability, cross‐linguistic variations, and voice spoofing challenges. These long‐standing issues are proposed to be solved by deploying an organic, flexible, and printed piezoelectric polymeric interface exhibiting several unique features such as strong directionality, stability over a large operating temperature range (30–90 ˚C), broad frequency (6 kHz), ultra sensitivity (5.77 V Pa−1) and high signal‐to‐noise ratio (38–55 dB). By analyzing speech processing parameters acquired by the voice sensor, an individual voiceprint is established, which is further utilized to train a neural network model for deploying artificial intelligence (AI)‐driven voice biometrics, resulting in a remarkable accuracy of >96% for population identification and speaker recognition and >93% for healthcare assessment. Featuring a versatile printing fabrication process, innovative voiceprint approach, and a robust neural network, the programmable polymeric acoustic interface proposes a promising complementary tool to the existing biometrics technologies and plays a vital role in healthcare monitoring.

Among electroactive polymers, polyvinylidene fluorine (PVDF) and its copolymers present the highest piezoelectric response which makes them very attractive for applications combining flexibility and piezoelectricity. The use of composites with the incorporation of electroactive ceramics (with a very high piezoelectric coefficient compared to polymers) into the fluorinated polymer matrix allows for an increase in the material piezoelectric response while keeping ductility. The review presents in the first part an overview of the impact of the ceramic particle size and dimension and the filler content. In ceramic/polymer composites, the interface between both constituents is generally weak and has to be strengthened. This review summarizes in the second part different strategies used to improve the interface between the electroactive fillers and the piezoelectric fluorinated polymer matrix to increase the piezoelectric performance of composites. Molecular coupling agents (CAs) are presented and polymer‐based CAs synthesized from “grafting to” and “grafting from” techniques are described. In the last part, the combination of antiparallel poling of ceramic and polymer piezoelectric responses is reported in the composites and the potential of such materials for future development is finally discussed.Highlights Piezoelectric properties of composites with electroactive ceramic fillers in fluorinated polymer matrix are discussed. Different strategies used to improve the interface between electroactive fillers and piezoelectric fluorinated polymer matrix are presented. The synthesis of molecular CAs or polymer‐based CAs from “grafting to” or “grafting from” techniques is described. The piezoelectric response of ceramic/polymer composites poled in parallel and anti‐parallel are summarized. The antiparallel poling of electroactive ceramic and piezoelectric polymer contributions is a promising way to maximize piezoelectric performances.
