Unraveling the Superior Role of Characterizing Methyl Ester of Isohexene as an Innovative High-Octane Gasoline Mixing Component

Abstract: High concentrations of isoolefinic hydrocarbons can adversely affect the physical, chemical, mechanical, and ecological characteristics of gasoline fuels. One of the solutions to reduce olefin contents is the utilization of the methoxylation process. The current paper declares a perspective toward a gasoline-component-first technique, revealing an innovative highoctane additive on the basis of isoolefinic components, like isohexene. The olefin content of isohexene was 94% volumetrically. This affected the chem… Show more

“…Oxidation stability of gasoline was found by researchers to deteriorate when olefins, and dienes present therein [47][48][49][50][51][52][53][54]. The data for olefin content (2.1 wt.%) and MAV (1.7 mg/g) of H-Oil naphtha (Figure 2 and Table 1) is an order of magnitude lower than that of FCC gasoline (Figure 11, olefin content of 25.2 wt.%; MAV of 10 mg/g).…”

“…It is worth saying that this oxygenate is still widely used in Russia, EU countries, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. 119 The largest consumer of MTBE is China. 120 Methanol is the third largest oxygenate on the market, used as an octane booster for motor gasolines.…”

“…However, at the end of the 20th century, studies appeared that proved the contamination of groundwater with ether, in connection with which bans were introduced on its use in 2001 in Japan and in 2006 in the United States and Canada, and the product itself was replaced by bioethanol in these markets. It is worth saying that this oxygenate is still widely used in Russia, EU countries, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia . The largest consumer of MTBE is China …”

“…Regarding the apparatus design process, the simplest and most common method used in the industry is the batch reactor of ideal mixing, which is a vessel with a heating element [62,63] and a stirring device [54,64]. Continuous reactors are also widely used in industry-flow-through apparatuses that enable a constant supply of reagents and product withdrawal [64][65][66].…”
