Untersuchungen zur Bildung von Flüssigkristallen bei Distyrylbenzolen mit Alkoxyketten / Investigations on the Formation of Liquid Crystals by Distyrylbenzenes with Alkoxy Chains

Abstract: The syntheses of 1.2-, 1.3-and 1,4-distyrylbenzenes with four or six dodecyloxy chains (1 ->5a, b, c, 6 -> 13). and the structural conditions for the generation of liquid crystalline states are discussed. 5c forms a thermotropic smectic phase, which is degradated by light and renewed in the dark.
