“…The same factors playing important roles in the stages of normal development of the retinal vasculature are likely involved with the pathological neovascularization (Biglan et al, 1986;Salvin et al, 2010;Hard and Hellstrom, 2011). Several angiogenic inhibitors have been identified which effectively inhibit pathological neovascularization, but today the effects of such antiangiogenic factors on normal and pathologic retinal vascular development are not clear.…”

“…The abnormal vascularity can cause retinal-vitreal hemorrhage, retinal traction, optical disc traction, and macular or retinal detachment. Early and timely treatment is of benefit in most cases (Salvin et al, 2010). ROP is commonly treated with argon laser photocoagulation, but in some cases, this treatment may not yield any benefit.…”

“…There was a history of premature delivery at 30 weeks with oxygen therapy. USG of both orbits was performed with high resolution linear probe (7)(8)(9)(10)(11)(12). Axial length of both eye balls was 10 mm.…”

“…Cataracts occur frequently in this high risk population [2] [3] and cataract surgery may be complicated due to history of previous vitreoretinal surgery or ocular changes due to the ROP. Postoperative management may present additional challenges due to refractive changes over time, visual axis opacification (VAO), and anatomic retinal changes [4] [5] [6] [7].…”
