Upgrade of the Mirnov probe arrays on the J-TEXT tokamak

Abstract: The magnetic diagnostic of Mirnov probe arrays has been upgraded on the J-TEXT tokamak to measure the magnetohydrodynamic instabilities with higher spatial resolution and better amplitude-frequency characteristics. The upgraded Mirnov probe array contains one poloidal array with 48 probe modules and two toroidal arrays with 25 probe modules. Each probe module contains two probes which measure both the poloidal and the radial magnetic fields (B and B). To ensure that the Mirnov probe possess better amplitude-fr… Show more

“…Array 1 is installed at ϕ Mir1 = 258.75° with 24 modules measuring both the poloidal and radial magnetic fields. In the fall of 2017, array 2 was installed at ϕ Mir2 = 56.25° with 48 modules [22].…”

“…There are two poloidal arrays of 2D Mirnov coils and one array of 24 coils (arranged in a circular shape) for the detection of MHD activities [20,23]. The electron cyclotron emission (ECE) diagnostic system consists of a 16-channel heterodyne ECE detecting unit and a new 8-channel W-band detecting unit, which covers a large portion of the plasma and has a temporal resolution of 2 μs and a spatial resolution of less than 1.5 cm [24,25].…”
