Abstract:In this study, an Upper Cretaceous sedimentary sequence in the Anaran Anticline (located in the central Zagros) is investigated to assess planktonic foraminiferal biozonations and implications for sea level changes. The thickness of this sequence is about 215 m, characterized by shales and limestones with thin marly limestone intercalations. In total, 51 species and 22 genera of planktonic foraminifera in 12 biozones spanning the middle Campanian to late Danian ages were delineated in the studied sequence. Add… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
