Upregulation of microRNA miR-141-3p and its prospective targets in endometrial carcinoma: a comprehensive study

Abstract: The clinicopathological value of microRNA-141-3p (miR-141-3p) and its prospective target genes in endometrial carcinoma (EC) remains unclear. The present study determined the expression level of miR-141-3p in EC via quantitative real-time PCR (RT-qPCR). RT-qPCR showed a markedly higher expression level of miR-141-3p in EC tissues than in non-EC endometrium tissues (P < 0.0001). The microarray and miRNA-seq data revealed upregulation of miR-141-3p. Integrated analysis based on 675 cases of EC and 63 controls ga… Show more

“…An integrated genomics approach in endometrial cancer revealed that p63 directly regulates the activity of the shared promoter of miR-200c/141 and acts as an activator of the expression of these miRNAs [19]. Notably, the speci c role of miR-141 can vary among different cancer types [20][21][22][23][24]. Using target prediction tools, such as TargetScan and miRDIP, we found that miR-141-3p strongly targets the 3'UTR of Yap-1 mRNA.…”

“…Kang et al confirmed that miR-141-3p was significantly elevated in Th17 cells and participated in differentiation, providing evidence for the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases [ 26 ]. Yang and colleagues revealed the upregulation mechanism of miR-141-3p in endometrial cancer and predicted the key role of miR-141-3poverexpression in carcinogenesis and prognosis [ 27 ]. In addition, miR-141-3p was confirmed to be differentially expressed as well in human diseases such as polycystic ovary syndrome [ 28 ], clear cell renal cell carcinoma [ 29 ], and colorectal cancer [ 30 ].…”

“…Elevated levels of this miRNA leads to inhibition of proliferation in osteosarcoma cells [ 33 ], as well as migration and invasion of colorectal cancer [ 34 ]. Yang et al also noted that high levels of miR-141-3p may be a risk factor in endometrial cancer [ 35 ]. This may suggest that DRD2 overexpression is due to the lack of regulatory effects of miR-141-3p.…”
